The Springtime Darner is well named, being that it emerges very early in the spring. It is a large, brown, streamside, or pondside dragonfly, about 2-1/2" long. A distinctive field mark are two bold, slanting, white to yellow-colored stripes on the brown thorax. The females tend to lay their eggs in water plants, near the water line.
