lots of wasps making lots of nests near my dfoors and windows. There's a particularly large one above my front door. Good thing I never enter the house that way!
Bought six shepherd's hooks and six pretty glass wasp traps. Plan to set them up tomorrow and bait them. We'll see how they work.
Preliminary layout -- two near front door, one at back door, one at front slider and two by south garage wall. All these locations have established wasp activity.
Bait with mixture of ham baby food, apple juice, water and dish soap.

crickets in the basement and black ants everywhere
just read a good tip for getting rid of crickets. Leave a plastic beverage bottle on its side with a little liquid in it and the crickets will find their way in but not their way out.
need to put out more ant bait because they're still crawling everywhere. I think the chipmunk made off with the little plastic container of peanut butter bait I put outside. I hope it wasn't hurt by the borax. Surely got a stomach ache -- so maybe it won't eat anymore of the bait.

finally released the bennies!
I think I might have even done this last week. Some of the lady bugs were still alive.

Surprised a rabbit near the hemlock tree last night and it went bounding off into the meadow. Wondering if that's what has been raiding the compost pile. Better that than the veggies.

why am I so averse to releasing them? They're all still in my frig. Will add this in CAPS to my email to do list.

okay, so the possum is cleaning out the dish, not some cats. I think it's time to stop feeding.

I have yet to release the beneficial insects. I hope they're still alive.

A possum was calmly eating out of the cat food dish tonight. It didn't even run away when I went out into the breezeway. It did, however, when I went for my camera.

I have at least one chipmunk living in the stone wall over the side bed.

received earthworm cocoons, lady bugs and lacewing flies from Gardens Alive during the last week or so. Will release in garden tomorrow.
