Where it began
It used to be that I could not keep a cup of water alive. One day, out of no where that changed. I just suddenly got the itch. I'm not sure where it came from or what sparked it. I just needed a plant!
Several years ago I first bought a "can't easily go wrong" Pothos "Devil's Ivy". I did well with it which built my confidence, and then I purchase another plant, and then another and then another....and so it began.
Once I realized I could use the internet to gain a wealth of information for caring for, trouble shooting and maintaining it was on. I fell utterly in love. Years later I know alot more than I once did yet there is always so much more to learn. I have met some great friends that share my passion and some new people that are hungry to learn. I recall a time when all I could do was ask questions but now, while I still ask many questions, I also have the ability to answer a few too. It just feels good. Digging in the dirt is the way I release stress... Plants make me feel good. --
While I can appreciate a beautiful flower, a flower is not my main goal. I absolutely adore the foliage (greenery) of a plant. I don't think I will ever force a plant to flower for this reason. - If it chooses to flower it is because that is what it (the plant) wants to do, and for me that is just an added bonus. :) With that said, the down side is if I don't find the foliage to be attractive I may turn my nose up at the plant.
