A Nice VisitGot a chance to spend some time with J, C and baby Liam. It's the simple joy that Liam brought me and Jim books and gestured if we read for him. I encouraged Liam to turn the pages, he was eager to do so when prompted. Poor baby, even with an ear infection aeb coughing and pulling on his ear, he enjoyed playing with leggos and being read to. What's blessing! Prior to seeing the young family. I went to Lauren's baby shower. It was a sweet reunion with some of the young people there.
I also discovered that the very lady that plays the piano at chapel in the pines is Lauren's mother. What's a small world.

ThursdayMother has a fairly good day. She's eating better and less agitated, pain medication is being used sparingly. Jim came joined me at Thuy's place after work, after his run at Dunavan's trail (Mountain Laurel as I called the trail for it has beautiful M. Laurel in the spring), Jim ran 4 miles and discovered his left ankle was bothering him. Jim came by and ate dinner, visited with my mother and Mike's parents.
Thuy two daughters are very much like mine. Hanna coming home from school in the evening, and she's busy with home work as K used to. Natalie stayed close to her grand mothers, and she sat with mother reading. She's more playful, playing with grandmother's new walking cane. Time for healing, I'm thankful....

11 Crosstide poles; 2000 lbs. load!Jim has begun his project to the side yard's shade garden. The adopted model was seen at a local avid gardener where the cross tide stepping pathways were very practical as well as pleasing to the eyes. This is one project that Jim has been wanting to do for quite a few years now...

1st Wintry FrontTemp. drops like a rock since yesterday. Continue to work on more bulbs planting this year on Sunday--the last warm day of the season-- I think. Monday was cold and rainy so is today. Had an eye exam yesterday; the result was good visual health. Ah my BP is also improved. Jim has begun his Christmas vacation. Yah!
Sunday, December 9, 2012
Spending time with NeighborsJim and I spent a good portion of our morning raking pine straw at Eddie's and Heidi's place. An enjoyable time spent with neighbors and getting yard works done for the season. Dinner was a treat when we discovered of a little Marina & Restaurant newly opened in Lincoln. The small place is tastefully decorated to give an atmosphere of the exotic Caribean's Oasis. Dinner was surprising good for a resonable price. Until we learned that there is a membership requirement for repeat patrons. A good evening everything considered.

Moving Tender Perennials IndoorThis year, we enlist help from neighbor's young men to help with the moving of this 'portable garden' Timmy, one of his friend and Matt a young man with whom we have known from the Gym for several years now. Having the basement cleared out and reorganized after the Heat/air unit was installed this past weekend, we're now ready to get the plants indoor over winter. Temp. is getting much cooler, foliages have changed, looking forward to spending time with family for the Holidays.

New H/A unit Installed. The work was finished yesterday evening. Jim moved the thermostat into our bed room so it doesn't shut down when it senses the radiated heat from the wood-burning stove in the great room and interrupts the warming of the adjecent room.
We're rebuilding one day at a time, one project at a time.
Sunday, October 28, 2012
Temp. is dropping.Northern wind over 15 mph -- makes it feel worse than it's. As the stress level abates. My pulse is at 63 bpm for the first time this morning at the Gym. Usually my pulse will be around 80 and up by the time I 1st stepped on the thread mill. Hope to take better care of my health. Hope those Alpha-blocker isn't riving up my BP? Follow up with MD is due for the end of the month.

Jim\'s Half MarathonHe did it! The evening before the 21K run (13.1 miles) he had a rough time with his digestive tract. That didn't keep him off the race when he woke up the next morning feeling a bit better. It took him half a day to recover from the run. He's pleased that he accomplished the task.
Baby Liam came to the park to cheer grandpa's run.
Saturday, September 22, 2012
My First 5k run. Thanks go to my darling husband. Credit to his hard work and encouragement which in turn motivated me to working on my excercise regimen as well. This morning I completed my very 1st 5K run. I think I brisk walked (15-16 m/m), but my running partner whom I met today, Charlotte said I ran, really ran the whole course of the 3 miles path. I'm pleased. Felt good too after we finished the run. Jim did his 8 miles, he said it was tough.
My very 1st Painted Lady butfy eclosed when I came home from the run as if to celebrate my accomplishment!
Wednesday, September 19, 2012
Autumn AirThe morning temp. is markedly cooler than usual. Flowers in the garden are tappering off. Few Angel Trumpet sent out their last flush of bloom. Most everything else have gone to seeds.
I feel a little restless. Jim continues on his training for the 21K run on Ruffner mountain next month. He worked up to 13.1 miles 2 weekends past. Last Sat. he dropped backed down to 8 miles. Jeff and his family is doing well. Liam is growing and so fast! He can now walk just holding on to your hand. Very early for a 10 mos. baby! That reminded me, it's been over 11 mos. since Jim's cabbage x2. I'm grateful of how blessed we're. Changing our eating habit is a real challenge though. We're trying; work in progress.
Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Sunday\'s activityIt's hard to believe time goes by so quickly. It has been a week since my girls visited! Last sunday Jim jogged 11 miles on Ruffner mountain. I walked over an hour then with him. Today, we walked/jogged around Cumberland Cove neighborhood. He did over 3 miles, I perhaps over 2 miles. Feeling in good shape. There is a hint of autumn in the air.

The Front Flower Bed.Tilled in half a dozen bags of compost into the bed. Errected a triangular trellis for new Clematis, mostly double blooming variety. Very pleased with its outcome.
Meet up with Jeff and Christina and Liam for Lunch at Ruby Tuesday.
Monday, March 26, 2012
Re-working the Front Flower bed.Continue to cultivate the garden. We enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend. Jim pulled the dead stump left off on the Golden Rain tree in the front. In its place we planted another Cherry tree to replace one that we've lost due to flood a year before last. Jim also transplanted a young sappling of the Golden Rain tree to where we lost the Yoshino cherry.

Chinese WisteriaLast few years, the plant refused to bloom. After the flood last spring, we moved the plant to a different location to get more sunlight. On this year's groundhog's day. I fertilized the container with super phosphate. Will observe how the combination of increased sunlight, and fertilizer has on this standard specimen plant.
The plant only yielded two lonesome inflos. Very disappointing!

Perennials Planting.A couple dozens plants were planted this weekend.
Sunday, October 23, 2011
The Woodland Garden; the beginning.Jim and I extended our woodland garden. This is a small section to frame the side yard in which we've removed all the wild growing shrubs. Fenced the yard in to provide safe place for our pets. Jim put down irrigation tubings underground. Now awaiting for winter vacation to wire in the 'manifolds' and get the system activated.

One Pallet- plus of Emerald ZoysiaFirst piece of grass down....(yesterday).
Saturday, June 11, 2011
The New LawnHard work it was, but it's now done. Jim worked twice as hard as I did. Today is a day of rest.
Thursday, June 9, 2011
Last preparation......Before we install the sods. Jim conditioned the soil further. He plans on adding some 'Milky Spores' to the soil before we lay down the sods. We rid of Bermuda grass, and will put in Emerald Zoysia grass which is more shade tolerant than the previous grass that we had. Our last ditch effort. If E. Zoysia won't do well. The yard is going to be converted to a flower bed. Final. Hah, at least we've a plan b in place.
Tuesday, June 7, 2011
Work is underway. The soil was tilled 6" deep, organic matters were added. Tarp is to prevent run off from irrigation system to other planting in the garden. Weather has been hot and no rain. Hopefully we will be able to put sods down this coming weekend.
Saturday, May 28, 2011
The New Rock BorderExpanding the front flower garden to over a foot wider than it was. The bare soil area to the right is reserved for a new lawn. Burmuda grass suffered greatly due to increased shade from growing/larger trees. Jim destroyed the old lawn, will replace with new shade tolerant grass.
