The demise of these beautiful shrub!
It has to be wet-feet. There has not been signs of bugs since last assessment! Today, the end result? It's a gonner!

Two big branches turned brown.
It appeared that the infestation of mealybugs has caused the demise of these big branches. Trimmed them down today.

Mealy bugs....
Late in the season, while trimming to eliminate brown/dead branches. I hose these pest down with strong jet of water. Pretty severe infestation of these bugs this year.

Rooting failure
It isn't easy rooting this shrub. Also meallybugs love these things as well. Sprayed with 'surefire' meally bugs insecticidal soap. It worked.

Drought; heat combination
Though I water these regularly, these plant isn't tolerating drought very well. Little inconpicious leaves are yellowing and show signs of stress. Hubby is working hard on getting new irrigating pipe out to these pots. Temp. is soooo hot already. Little rains, it's looking threatening outsides, but looks like the rain is going to elude us once again.

Pruning Broomtops.
Recently I learned how to prun this plant. Today I put my new skill to the test. Noticed tiny little flower buds are forming. Yes!!!!

Broomtops
Beautiful shrub by the pier. Swallowtail butterfly made it cacoon on its branch, got beautiful picture of this, it's a matter of finding it. Rats.
As I learned from DG. The above cocoon is not of swallow tail caterpillar. It was a Monarch's chrysalis.
