Today, I spied Burpee organic seed starting mix and bought it. Burpee has been around for a lot of years and I figure it should be good..Will give it a try, hopefully the portulaca seeds will germinated. I opened 2 pkt. Botanical Interest Double flowered, mixed colors portulaca seeds and mixed them in with 1/2 tsp. sugar that I used an old spice shaker to sprinkle over the seed starting mix. Instructions told me to mix warm water into seed starting mix and make sure it was kept moist and not to cover the seeds but to spray a mist to get them settled into the soil and to cover with plastic or something like Press&Seal..That's how I had been successful in previous years.
Tomorrow I will dig up some Black-eye susan seedlings that I see in the lawn. I'll dig them up and plant where I want them to grow.
Need to plant my hosta that my neighbor gave me for Easter into a permanent pot..Took the press&seal off BES seeds that I had planted on 3/19 that have not germinated. The soil appears too damp, so will let the sun dry some of it out and maybe will help germination.
Need to plant some rudbeckia seedlings that survived in a pot from last Fall. The oriental poppy seedling I transplanted is started to bounce back from transplant shock. Need to move the pink that Christiane gave me last year to a better location as it is getting crowded out by a yellow yarrow plant and larkspurs. Lots to change in the Fall.
