More snakes and weeds
Well, I came across two more snakes today. Another yellow and black snake and one that we took out of the swimming pool. (see photo)
Did more weeding on raised bed. Turned the compost tumblers again. My last pumpkin doesn't look like it is going to last till Oct. 31st. The sage looks great. I need to trim it and deadhead the garlic chives. I guess the next thing I need to learn is how to run the chipper myself. I'm still going to investigate alalfa straw for mulch if it isn't too expensive.
New water plant called aquatic society garlic at vnwg.com. Sploch the koi has something going on with her pec. fins. I think it is Lymphocystis. It is disfiguring not fatal according to Koi Vet Erik Johnson's book says some times they go away second season at the peak of the heat. I'll call my local vet and see if there is anything new for it. Apparently it just shows up and is not related to water quality.
It's getting to be time to pull the water hyacinths and water lettuce out. I notice a few blooms on anacharis.

Pecans, Water plants and snake
Well, hubby still doesn't believe the small branches all over the place are caused by squirrels chewing them.
Hmmm maybe I can win a bet with him. But how to get him not to welch on it?
We gathered green pecans from the tree. It looks like the squirrels have already picked one tree clean. We got about 1 big white bucket full.
Jackie sent me the following water plants: a new water clover, gladstone waterlillys, blue pickrel and yellow iris. She sent it priority mail. Surely, she got hers today. I sent her water clover and 2 heads of german hardy garlic.
I sent Brenda pictures of the sage and purple oxalis she had given me a year or two back.
I've been weeding my raised garden bed, but stopped when this yellow and black snake showed up.
The yellow butterfly is Sleepy Orange Eurema nicippe
I'll have to cross reference with Google and see if I can find some pictures to make sure.
