More GravelAfter the cold months, I started to move alot of plants to the pond's side. On the rocky side of the top pond I added some fake plants just to get some green look after a long winter.
Steve went and got larger creek gravel to place around parts of the pond.
I put a drain pipe in the spot between the bottom pond and the top pond because when it rained it filled up and over flowed into the bottom pond bringing all the mud with it. After testing the drain, we covered it with the larger gravel.
I bought the fairy at Franks Nursery in the winter when they went out of business.

Collecting Rocks from a local creekWe laid the rubber liner in the bottom, top, and waterfall part of the pond.
My son collected the huge rocks, before his accident, from a creek that runs in front of my sisters house. So Steve and a couple of the other kids went down to the creek and made a few truck load of rock trips.
We stacked the rocks ontop of the liner to hold it in place. And tried to landscape the top pond with the rocks. Then picked up a yard of creek gravel at a local gravel company to put on top of the liner at the bottom of the pond.

Not much work getting doneMy son worked too many hours to get much work done on the pond and I had no idea what he had in mind and how to build it! So i thought I would give him some time before I would jump in and mess the entire plan up (if there was a plan!) or I would just fill it back in and make that shade garden i was going to put in!!

After digging a hole...I knocked down an old barbacue grill, using a chisel and hammer and moved all the stone to my garden in the back.
My son is a landscaper by trade and got a crazy idea to put a pond in it's place. One day I look out the window and he has a bobcat in the pouring rain knocking down the last part of the grill and digging a huge hole and making a muddy muddy mess!!
So I guess we are going to build a pond!!
After digging the shape of the pond and putting all the rock and dirt to the side in a big mound, we built up the inside wall of the pond with big telephone poll type lumber. Made sure that there were no sharp rocks, roots, etc sticking out to the mud.
Then we put a few layers of heavy plastic in for a liner for the rubber to sit on top of.
