Photo taken in basement where forced bulbs are placed when taken out of their cold environment - the refrigerator or stairwell. Avg. temp in basement is 60 degrees. They are placed here under a bank of 8 long fluorescent tubes. A lot of light at this juncture tends to keep the stems from elongating too much; the temp. helps prolong blooming.

TulipsMy records indicate there were 23 containers potted up with an average of 5 bulbs per pot which totals out at 115 bulbs forced into bloom early in 2005.
The forced blooms began in mid Feb. 1st bloom this season was the daffodil Topolino. 4 days later came Erlicheer. On the 26th was Falconet...followed by Hollywood, Hoop Petticoat, Jack Snipe, and Kaydee.
Tulips forced: Flair 3-15-05, 3-16 Monsella, 3-19 Attlia, then Toronto, Mickey Mouse, Amzonia, Gen de Wet, Calgary, and Princess Irene.
Iris Reticulta 3-9, hyancith Gypsy 3-17, Ornithogalun dub. on 4-11, Pleione on 4-28.
Pic is one of the forced tulips, Mickey Mouse I think.
