I had put the pansy flat in the basement under a black plastic bag. They said 10-21 days to germinate so I only checked today. Long, leggy sprouts, totally useless. So I pulled those and re-seeded the flat, putting it in the bathroom window this time.
Planted most of the day. Planted perennials in the two new peony beds, Goblin gaillardia at the base of the dry stream and Sunset Echinacea at the top by the driveway. Lots of work -- I hope this stuff looks good!

It will definitely freeze tonight. I took pictures of everything, although it was a cloudy, dreary day. Note to self: Next year, take pictures during sunny days when the plants are at their prime! Now I just have to get things marked so I know where to expect things to come up next spring. Will the wildflower garden return, or were those all annuals? I hope it will -- it was really pretty! Will the gourds all explode through freezing tonight? The stems were all green, definitely not ready to pick. We'll see what happens. I hope this is just an early warning and I can put the mums and pansies out for a few more weeks, anyway.
