Named in honor of Olof (Olaf) Bromel, 18th century Swedish botanist, Bromeliads encompass more than 50 epiphytic genera, and includes some familiar plants such as pineapple and tillandsia. From Aechmea to Vriesea, these beautiful plants are often grown indoors in temperate climates. Want to learn more? The Garden Bookworm has a small-but-growing collection of Tillandsia and Bromeliad titles to browse. Related forums include Tropicals, Cactus and Succulents, Orchid Cactus , and House Plants.
