From the Latin hyper (over, excessively) and tufus (volcanic rock that is porous and crumbly), Hypertufa is a lightweight, manmade stone-like material created with aggregates bonded together by Portland cement. Because of its weight and ability to withstand freezing temperatures, it is a favorite for creating garden ornaments and containers.
