We just experienced an unusual 3 day freeze that really did a number on the garden. I have what I believe is a C. australis, that froze. It has weathered all other freezes we've had with out signs of distress, when other tropical plants defoliated, but not this time.
My question is, should I leave the dead looking fronds on tree and remove them if they fail? I can't imagine the fern with out fronds even if they're dead looking!~ I'm not sure if it affects it's recovery or not. I had wrapped the trunk with outdoor seat cushions, and covered the crozier with towels and a cushion, and they appear to be fine.
