Greetings to all of you! I see some of the names from the other forum thread "Ten Hoarding Signs" are also on this forum too! That's nice ~ good to see the names of people I've already exchanged comments with. I think some of you will recall my comments & pics that I posted on the "Hoarding" forum, after spending several days and hours "decluttering and cleaning" my kitchen, fortunately those were the after photos as well.

About a month ago, I bought a 2TB external drive with the intent of storing my photos on there that I work with. The computer tech at Staples said I should back up everything on it, so I did. While the 2TB drive was at Staples being loaded with all my computer 'stuff', I was home cleaning off the "desk" part of my computer furniture. This computer desk/hutch combo was bought a few years ago at Office Depot [now I don't like it, but can't afford to replace it yet] and has several little "cubbies" similar to the other "armoire" post way up the thread. The desk area is free from most of the original clutter, except for papers that have numerous email & website info to be recorded for later use. The upper right top cubby was cleaned & now holds a few of my software programs for the computer. I also bought 3 of those plastic "shoe" bins that will become the new 'home' for quite a bit of stuff from the upper computer hutch area. I have room for a 4th storage bin if I decide to get another one and also have a small area to the side where I can put my plastic letter file that I keep my photography contracts in. Eventually, I will print out some labels for these storage drawers. There were drawers that were supposed to go in this space, but wouldn't assemble very easy so I got pissed & trashed them. I usually do take "before" and "after" pics of all my home improvement projects & 'eyesores' and this project is no different! I actually have a "before" pic that I took before any cleaning was done with the desk area of this computer desk. Yes, I admit it's embarrassing for y'all to see this, but once I'm done with this project, you'll see a major transformation!

@ rubyw ~ about the problem you're having with your camera & dark photos ~ I don't recall what brand camera you told me you have [hopefully digital], but I just recently discovered this with my own Canon camera when out on a photoshoot. You know how I am with my cameras, you've seen some of my photos. If you set your camera to the "Manual" setting, then you can control the shutter speed & aperture values. First, set the [AV] aperture mode to about "4.0-4.5"; then dial back to the [M] manual mode to control the shutter speed. I find that if I have my shutter speed at "1/30 sec" it gives off a really bright image. While your camera is in the manual mode, by turning the dial to the left, it makes it brighter; turning the dial to the right will make it darker. Experiment with a few shots & you'll see what I'm talking about. Just keep playing with the settings until you get the desired lighting you want for your pic. I don't know what your ISO setting was when you took those shots, but usually bumping up the ISO setting to 800 or 1600 might give you a bit more light, other than the light you had to work with. Some cameras have a limit to the ISO they can increase to. My Canon Powershot SX30 IS only goes as high as ISO 1600, whereas my Canon EOS 60D DSLR can go as high as ISO 6400. You can always delete the images with the lighting that you don't like. Hope that helps you a bit, even though I know your post is over a year ago.

@ quilty ~ thanks for the idea of the storage for the sewing fabrics! I have a mobile home, so any type of storage space is at a premium! I've found that I have to get very creative with things. I also do a bit of sewing when time permits and even though having a dresser next to my sewing machine is not feasible, I can definitely do the storage bins with rollers. Thanks for the great ideas! :)

Anyway, here is my "before" pic of my computer desk/hutch before I did any cleaning at all b/4 I brought home my fully loaded 2TB drive. And I will be posting an "after" pic also! Any comments are okay, I can take it! LOL !!
