ItsMeChrissy wrote: About those chicky mugs....so glad you all like them! A year or so ago one of my classmates had thrown the body of a pitcher, didn't like the shape and was going to toss it... I can't let anyone toss their pottery so I said I'd take it and finish it. I looked at it for a while and decided it looked like those marshmellow peeps you get at easter time and turned it into my first peep pitcher! That one had a little tuft of feathers on the top and a tail, but I don't put those on anymore cause it's just something more to possibly break off and the peeps look just as cute with out it.
Anyway, everyone loved that one, I've made 5-6 of them for my family and am now making them to sell. The ones in that picture are the first mug sized I've made, I have 5 more pitchers ready to be bisque fired and plan on making more. I think I found the perfect place to market them -- backyardchickens.com. Chicken people tend to be obsessed by chickens (I know 'cause I'm one of them!) so I'm thinking up more ideas for chicken stuff...
As you can tell I think I've become obsessed with making animal shaped pottery, here's a picture of some frogs I made awhile ago --- these I plan on giving to neices as gifts (will include a stuffed frog and 'The Frog Prince" book :-))
