Those are Mayapples, the single leaf plants don't flower, the double leaf plants have a single white flower under the leaves growing from the "Y" formed by the two leaf stem. It spreads by a fairly thick rhizome and loves moist shady areas.
Here is a picture of the flower and leaves of a two leaf plant (taken with my phone so please forgive the fuzziness.)

The plant is toxic to humans.
