I started mosaicing with a friend on a six week "how to mosaic" course. Then I realised I could pretty up all my old plant pots with broken crockery, wouldn't cost anything but my time and a bit of glue and grout. Of course, then you get hooked! I have found it a wonderful way of saving things from landfill, which is top of my list. This is a mosaic made from a fibreglass handbasin upcycled from my recycling centre. Broken vases, crockery and recycled tiles from a neighbours renovation. Then installed on the pipe fitting - which I put a garden stake inside for extra support. I am about to reinstall it at my new house as we moved last Nov. This time, I think I will add fibreglass to the pipe and mosaic that as well - we will see. I had just rendered with left over grout originally.
