Glad you were inspired by Sue's photos.
I look forward to seeing your textural tapestry using succulents.
Ferrymead,
I too share the love of snapping off photographs of others gardening endeavors and try to go on garden tours as much as possible.
I am continually amazed at the creative talent that comes out of New Zealand. I receive a quarterly garden art magazine that is published in NZ called Alfresco .
It is by far my favorite magazine for cutting edge design work and funky faboo garden installation projects.
I also really love reading the editors preamble too, which is really odd because usually editors' musing are rather prozaic ramblings but this New Zealand editor, Leigh Bramwell is outrageously funny and 'out there'.
For example , most magazines have a conservatively suitable well dressed portrait picture of the editor in with their writings.
Well in one issue Ms. Bramwell had just returned from a trip to Fiji and had a picture of herself half naked floating in a wave of shallow water. It was brilliant.
I also like her philosophy about democracy and freedom of expression , which is a strong message in the magazine .
" You may not agree or like the art or message but at least we have the freedom of democracy to express it. "
in another preamble she wrote ; " Humphrey Bogart once said society was in trouble because everybody was one drink behind .
If we all slugged down another gin, he reckoned , there'd be world peace."
To all that have enjoyed Sue's wonderful photos and a virtual trip into my small garden I say, thank you for your words of appreciation and 'pass the pina coladas.'.
