June 30, 2003 4:28 PM | Growing wildly in the deep woods where no human could have physically planted them. I'm sure the cold kills them and
they come back in spring. This is one of many color and color combinations. Common name: Lantana 'Wild'
Family: Verbenaceae
Genus: Lantana
Species camara

I have found lantana growing wild at the edge of the woods across the street from us. The colors are the bright oranges and yellows. The mockingbirds especially like the berries that form after the blooms. My theory is that these plants have grown from where birds have left droppings.
I live in LA - lower Alabama(Eufaula). Your picture is beuatiful I might add! Have a great 4th. |

June 19, 2006 12:59 PM | You must be a photographer, this close up is magnificent! I wonder if I could grow this as a potted plant in KS and bring it in during the winter? Does anyone know how hard a plant this is to grow, I'm fairly new to gardening and would hate to hurt this beauty! Thanks for the great pic! |

You can buy a Lantana at your garden centre..enjoy it all season..then bring it in the house and it will keep over the winter if you have a place that has lights.
It is not a hard plant to grow.
