| hawgfan Blytheville, AR July 26, 2003 | I don't know. This was a name given in some of the research I did trying to find out what kind of plant is was. Here in Arkansas we generally have mild winters so our vines are thriving and spreading like crazy. As I explained earlier, we got ours from the seeds of a passion fruit I purchased at Kroger! Now they are everywhere. The fruit doesn't mature into an edible fruit, but the seeds will propagate into additional plants. They also spread through underground roots. | LilBear August 30, 2003 | Hi, I'm new to this posting board but I wanted to let you know that the reason they are called "apricot vine" is because they do produce a fruit that is very similar to an apricot. I also live in Arkansas and we have tons of these vines growing. We also have a lot of the fruit producing and some ripening. They are turning orangish in color and will soon be ready to eat. I can not have them this year due to the lack of study in eating this fruit during pregnancy But I do highly intend to cut and and freeze some. I have read that in order for the fruit to turn ripe that they have to get plenty of water which might be your case Hawgfan. It is suggested not to OVER water them but they do need plenty of water as does watermelons, cucumbers, ect. Good luck on your Passion fruits. |
