I am buying another home and it has these black solar window screens on all the windows. I know it's for energy efficiency. Another nice benefit is the added privacy as your window blinds can be open but the windows are tinted with the screens so people can't see in. But my problem is it makes the front of the home, a light brown brick, with dark green shutters and door and now the black screens seem dark. It has paneled window panes but you can't tell because of the screens. So I am wondering...has anyone ADDED these to their home and noticed a significant decrease in utility bills? I was thinking of removing from just the front of the home (leaving on back). Wondering if they make a do-it-yourself window tint for the inside of the window that wouldn't be as dark?

Not sure where to post this thread so if you have a better idea I'll ask admin to relocate it. Thanks for any advice!
