Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a wood burning fireplace insert that has a flue diameter of less then 6"?

I have a fireplace that has a 6" diameter cement liner of unknown age and condition. Two fireplace shops refused to adapt their 6" inserts to this liner and wanted instead to drop a stainless steel liner down the chimney. I have no objections to the steel liner, except that there is no clearance for 6" and they would have to use a 5" or maybe a 15 cm (5.9") liner. As you know I can't adapt down from 6" to 5" by code (Federal, State?). That leaves a few european free standing stoves with a 5 or 5.5" flue and no inserts that I know of. I have 5 acres of hardwood and enough cord wood for years, so I'd rather not go the pellet route, although at this point I'm considering it for ease of installation and operation.

Thanks,

Steve
