| haighr Hagerstown, MD Zone 6a February 19, 2008 | I like to make an arrangement or 2 in the spring and summer to have outside on our deck or potting table. Do you do something similar? I know there are flowers in the garden but I just like having some on a table or bench. Here is one on my potting table from years past.

Usually when I take an arrangement apart and the flowers may be a bit bruised or past their best, they do really well in water displays. Change the water every day until you want to dry them out! I hardly throw any flowers away. Evergreen foliage works well in water..........

Must admit that Steve and I are artists (on the side) and have done some unique things inside, but the architecture is nothing special. Wespend most of our time outside, in the spring and summer in the gardens and the fall and winter in the hottub dreaming of new garden ideas. |

I gave up on delphiniums and hostas. The pink gerberas and chrysanths in my crossword arrangement were from the florists, the roses came from my garden. What art do you make?

| haighr Hagerstown, MD Zone 6a February 29, 2008 | The parrots are about 2" thick and have sanded curved edges and then are grooved and painted and coated with sparurethane. They actually need to be redone as they are starting to look a bit shabby after all these years. They are actually screwed to the fence from the other side and so is the driftwood which they are perched on. Cool idea I had, huh? |

We keep Adolphs meat tenderizer in the fishin tackle box, on the kitchen counter, in the jeep at the cabin and in the medicine chest because it is greatest for bee stings, takes the sting right out right away. Just make a little paste with water and voila sting is gone, but must use it immediately upon getting stung! Go get yourself some Terri and watch where you are stepping. |

I have never even read a magazine about arrangements and as for the camera I have read the book and am still learning. I thought the same thing when I first came here, I was sure I knew who the professionals are and then I came to understand that we are just a bunch of highly creative folks and a few here really outstanding ability to create from their imaginations. I think of myself as somebody with a good eye for color and I know what I like, others here are much more "professional" and spend much more time on their creations. I am more of a stick it together and step back and add or remove as my eye sees fit. At any rate you will love it here, I can tell and so another great big welcome. Candee |

| terriculture london (UK) June 6, 2008 | I used a shallow wicker basket to hold the floral foam, placed the crochet hat onto the foam and inserted the flowers through the holes. It had green grapes on it too, but I ate them before the photos were taken ....Sorry!!!!!

I have a variety of hats around since I have been on the lookout for the perfect summer hat for years - wide enough brim to provide shade, but doesn't flop all over my face, and can be packed easily in a suitcase. I am so glad you told us how you set up your arrangement with the floral foam and all.....I was wondering how the flowers stay so fresh looking. |

I bought 3 lily stems at the florists, it was the colour of them that caught my eye. Here they are with some garden roses and foliage.

I love it, but it does need polished so don't look too close when I post it please. Terri, my red valerian has bloomed great, but just not keeping in the arrangements like it has in years past. |

Then I had to carve out a nice flat area and let the sap and water drain, then I had to gently place the glass vase inside the trunk ------ ohhhhhh, who am I kidding, it is a treetrunk frame around the photo then I erased part of it to give it the 3 dimensional effect! |
