February 21, 2008 10:36 AM | hello all..
A year ago, I extended my backyard to add one more room to my house. After few months, the wall of the room started to cracked. and worst of all, whenever raining, the cracked line is getting wet.
Is it safe to live in the room or the wall will have a chance to collapse in the future??? Please advise.

A picture and a better description of how you built the addition would be helpful in figuring out which sort of crack you have. What is the wall made of? Where on the wall is the crack (is it by windows/doors, in the middle of the wall, etc) What sort of foundation did you use for the addition? Did you build it yourself or did you have a professional contractor build it? Was it done with permits and inspected? (I don't know if you have things like that in Malaysia, but here we have building codes that you need to follow, and for things like room additions you have to apply for a permit to build it, then as you go along you have to have various inspections done to make sure you're doing everything according to code. | robcorreia San Diego, CA Zone 10b
