11:38 PM | I have a black Kenmore ceramic stove (4 days old). My son accidentally set his fleece jacket on a burner that was still warm, removed it quickly, but the fleece melted on the burner and the cleaner that came with the stove won't remove it - it's stuck hard. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove this? Thank you! |

We have the smooth top type and I accidentally melted part of my blender on it once. We got the melted plastic off by heating up the burner again and wiping it with a wad of paper towels when the plastic got soft. A flat, blunt metal scraper (for making pastry) won't scratch the surface if used lightly.
The cleaning product that we use to clean up burnt food is called "Barkeeper's Friend." It's a powder, sort of like Ajax but not as harsh. Lowes hardware store carries it around here.

I'd try that, and if that doesn't work then you might try turning the burner on (very low heat!) for a short time, just enough to see if you can soften up the melted fleece again and scrape it off while it's soft. I accidentally melted the bottom of a plastic container on mine once and I got a lot of it off by scraping (when the stove was cool) and then turned on the heat just a little and was able to soften the rest up and scrape it off. |

10:22 PM | I'd try the razor blade, I use one on my stove and it doesn't seem to scratch. Do it gently though but I think you'll be fine. I don't think the plastic scrapers are hard enough to really get stuff off well. Or you may need to warm a little more--you need to get to the point where the fleece starts to soften up. |

11:17 AM | If you get the stove warm enough to soften the fleece you run the risk of melting part of your plastic scraper onto the same burner. We use the metal pastry scraper on ours frequently and it hasn't seemed to damage the surface. You could also try a metal spatula or paint scraper. |
