I would say it's a female Bibio marci. The male has larger eyes, and a narrower abdomen. [HYPERLINK@www.diptera.info] The female Dilophus febrilis has an extra shield behind the head and only one set of 'antennae' or whatever they may be, and you already have the male Bibio marci I think. I see, I had overlooked the extra shield and the antennae difference, but they are very much look-a-likes. I didn't think it could be the Biblio marci as the heads of male and female are so different! |
