Saw this tree in Pomeroy Ohio along the Ohio river and would like to know what type of tree it is. The blooms are beautiful and are similar to those found on the foxglove plant.

Any ideas as to what type of tree this may be?

Thanks,

Paulownia (aka Royal Empress tree, Princess tree, and a few other related common names). It's a weed tree and is invasive in many parts of the country.

I don't think they're as much of a problem here as they are in wetter parts of the country. I'd still do some homework on it if you're thinking of planting one though. I think you don't see them as much because we have a million different kinds of gorgeous trees that will grow in zone 9/10 so people have a lot more options.
