I have acquired the job of renovating a friends veterinary clinic's garden. In one of the gardens the focal is a weeping peach tree. Some branches look dead and it needed a thorough pruning, however, upon further inspection, I found carpenter ants had made a small hole (size of the ant itself) into the trunk and many were headed in. I sprayed the hole with the only thing I had (wasp and hornet killer) and am headed back today. I have Diazanon, Bayer Insecticide and Sevin dust. Any suggestions? How can I tell if the ants have done too much damage for the tree to be saved? It is still producing fruit and leaves.
Any suggestion, tips and advice are GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
