I always wondered... how they grew seedless watermelons if they had no seeds! Thanks for the answer!

I'm told we cannot grow melons here :(

Hi darius, you're quite welcome, I had wondered myself how they were grown! Do you know why you can't grow watermelons in VA?

Diana, I think it's just our little microclimate in this narrow "valley" along the creek. For most of the time, the ground stays pretty damp just down 3-4 inches.

Aahhh, I see, I guess the wet soil would not let enough oxygen get to the roots and the plants would die. If you really want to grow watermelon, you may have some luck with raised beds...just a thought. Have you ever considered them?

LOL, I don't eat enough of them to go to the trouble of making beds... I buy maybe 2-3 a summer at the farmer's market nearby.

You mean you don't want to freeze watermelon juice with your excess harvest? Only kidding...I hear you :) You're lucky to have a nearby farmer's market for fresh produce.

Happy & Healthy Gardening ^_^
