Today I went out into my little container mater patch and found the darnest thing. Some varmint climbed in and dug up all the soil from around one of my Siberia plants and replaced it with grass clippings and left the plant in place but devoured all of its roots. The only thing I have seen out there is a very persistant jack rabbit chewing on one of my broccoli plants that is growing taller than the planter but whatever this is was went right around my beets collards and eggplant to get to poor little Siberia. He also left the mater plant on the other end of the rectangular planter in tact. I moved a little round container of spearmint in the hole (in case it's a mouse or vole) and cleaned out the clippings but I just never saw anything like that before, especially in a container. Do you think Papa Jack could be building a nest for wifey to have some babies among my maters?
