This is my third year for trying to grow jalapeno peppers. I now know I have set them out too early every year before the soil was warm enough.

Here's my question to maybe salvage the 5 plants I do have.

They are blooming and a couple even have tiny peppers on them. The plants are no where big enough to sustain fruit. If I clip the blooms and tiny peppers off, will the plant itself continue to grow? Should I use a certain fertilizer to get it to grow a bigger plant first?

Or is there any other suggestions to get the plants to grow without setting fruit yet?

My tomatoes plants are so big and pretty, blooming and setting fruits and the peppers still look like transplants. We love jalapeno peppers and use them for a variety of cooking.

What should I do? I live in Missouri, zone 5b.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
