| My latest project was a table top. I finally got it grouted but now I think that the grout is too light. It doesn't show off the details as I would have liked. If you look close at the picture, you can see that there are flowers in the design, but they barely show up. Is there anything that I can do to fix it? I thought about putting some of my deck stain on the grout and rubbing it in a bit to make the grout look alittle darker. Help. I did too much work on this table to not be able to enjoy the end result.

| Quoted from our resident guru Wuvie:
"Rub'n Buff is a wax metallic finish for highlighting, stenciling and more.
It is an Amaco product which can often be found at Hobby Lobby."
She used this on a mosaic ball to darken the grout. Maybe it will work for you too? :)

| I love your design!
I've used acrylic paint mixed with water which I then sponged onto my work before sealing. However, I only did this a couple of weeks ago and my project hasn't been exposed to extreme summer sun yet, so I'm not sure if it will fade.
Good luck! |

| Thanks Verfkwas. I decided to paint the grout black. (why-I don't know) I am okay with the black, although I wish that I had left it alone. The only thing is that the black paint is a flat paint. When I sprayed on the grout sealer, the black paint was all shiny and it looked really good. Is there anything I can do to make the black paint shiny? Click the image for an enlarged view.

| I used gloss spar varnish spray on my mosaic table, and it made the black grout shiny. |

| the1pony: did you paint the whole table or just the grout? |

| I used it on the whole table- I wanted the whole thing sealed so I could use it on the porch. It comes in a can just like spray paint, so it was really easy to use. |

| imapigeon: I would NOT suggest painting the grout, unless you are a good painter. I think it would have turned out better if I had used the deck stain and just wiped it on and off quickly. That only would have given the grout a brownish tint, but it would have been easier than painting it. I am okay with my finished product, but it's not perfect, so I am ready to do another. (I know nothing is ever perfect, but for some reason I always feel the need to be perfect--well actually not be perfect but for everything to go MY way. I guess that's a flaw in my personality. lol) |

| I LOVE the dark grout!
Even though the dragonfly was in contrast to the white grout, I didn't really take notice of it. But strangely enough it really stands out with the dark grout. And I love the way that every pebble and piece of tile is now visible. The colours seem more vibrant.
Well done!

| Hi flower...I have used the acrylic paint that you get at Michael's or Hobby Lobby
you can either cut it with water or I like to just poor it on and spread it around (with gloved hands) working it all in, and wipe the excess off. I like to use the black diamond...it makes the the grout have a hint of sparkle. Then put the sealer on...but I don't know if it will work since you already sealed it. I love to use the
acrylic paint. You can make your grout any color that you desire. |

| verfkwas: I agree with you that everything stands out much better with the black grout.
somersetsue: Originally I was going to pour the paint on and wipe it off, but I was afraid that it wouldn't wipe off of the glass and marbles. I wish I would have done it that way. I am just taking in all of this advice so that my next project will be even better than this one. Thanks everyone. |

| I used paint to change grout color on a kitchen island, wasn't real happy with it.
I want to use some plates I got to make a mosaic top for an old singer sewing machine base that will be shiny black. I love the black grout and think I will do that. I am open for suggestions. The top will be 2 by 3 feet and go under a covered patio and window, for plants. So suggest away. Here are the plates I got today for $1.20 at Cracker Barrell. How would you lay it out. I have five plates, but only one is pansys the others are all like the other plate pictured. They are old seed packet covers. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Here they are close up, I was thinking of using white tile with them, cheap at home depot and matches the plates. Do I need tile cutters or nippers, or can I just crush them? Click the image for an enlarged view.
