We got a private instructor for the toddler to start swimming lessons and from observation all seemed well and good. But DD only made it through 20 mins of her 30 mins lesson, which I kinda expected because she did constant excersizes.

My only concern was the one excersize, that wasn't repeated lol, was having her jump into the pool and she rose to the top with her life vest on. I'm a wimpy swimmer and I plug my nose for going under but DD wasn't instructed to do so. At first standing at poolside she didn't even seem to want to jump but the teachers encouraged her to jump in. One teacher asked if she'd like to hold her hand but didn't offer it, perhaps DD said no?, I was across the pool. DD bent at the knee to lessen the jump and then hopped in, she came up looking panicked (first time all the way under water) and her nose was red. It was only 10 mins into the lesson and I was afraid she'd give up and cry for me.

I was so proud she didn't :)

But the excersize concerned me. I thought lessons were supposed to go pretty slow and not encourage fear of water? Should I suggest to the instructors not to practice this excersize again, at least in this summers lessons, or just to wait a bit? Or should I trust their practice, since I am not an expert on this?

And yes, I asked DD how she liked her lessons, she said she liked them. I asked her if she liked jumping into the pool and she gave me an emphatic "noooo".
