But first let me give you some information, I planted 9 BetterBoy bush indeterminate as transplants bought from a Bonnie distributor. I planted them the week after Easter, 8 of them directly in plain old garden soil amended with composted horse manure and leaf mould. I have 1 BetterBoy and a Grape tomatoe planted in a haybale as an experiment.
Now the problem, the BetterBoy is showing signs of rootrot (soft brown spots on the bloom end of the tomatoes) the Grape tomatoe plant is showing signs of what I think may be BER. The bloom end is gone and is black and scabbed over mostly on ripe fruit( I believe anyway).
The BetterBoy was certainly stressed early on, the cage fell over and I've had trouble keeping it upright ever since. Thus the stem base has been moved several times. They are growing side by side in the same hay bale and are watered every other day.
Two questions...1: should I destroy the BB since I have 8 more that seem to be very healthy. 2: The BER on the grape tom. seems to be very mild, is it worth waiting it out to see if it gets better, the weather here is already very hot (90's) in the daytime and is high 70's into the 80's at night so I don't expect alot more fruiting.
