Hate CC! When we lived in NY, it grew all through the lawns, into the vegetable and flower gardens, and was impossible to get rid of. The sheep wouldn't eat it either. I've only seen a little of it here in NH. Must be our sandy soil isn't as much to its liking as the rich moist soil in NY. I was able to pull out some that had started around the rock garden and it hasn't shown signs of coming back yet. At least I think I can keep ahead of it here!
It is a plague for me here in my gardens. I despise the stuff. I haven't been able to keep it under control this year because of all the rain we have gotten. I bet you can hear my screams way up in KY some days when I am trying to conquer the invasion even though we don't have any mountains to bounce them back at you.
Critter: That's hilarious...a Dark Johnny Appleseed! Hey, Sharon is into journalism...maybe that's a new story she could write!YooHoo,Sharon...actually, I think she's on a trip. When she gets back, she will have alot of weedin' and writin' to do!
You all are just too funny. I swear, I was all over Chicago and didn't see one sprig of Creeping Charlie anywhere up there!
I did see a lot of hot sunshine though, could not believe it was that hot that far north of me.
But thank you for reading the article, even if about something we aren't too fond of. Dividedsky, I saw a large community pot in one of the big box stores this week, and guess what it had dripping down its sides...yes, Creeping Charlie. I could not believe someone is using it as a filler in a pot! Wow, I have so much of it, I could have a profitable business, I think.
Gallesfarm you sure have some pretty countryside up there in NH, I hope it isn't marred by CC. And the rest of you funny ladies, "The Dark Side of Johnny Appleseed"...HA! Iris, watch your mail...CC is on its way. You too, Petal!!! Not to leave out Critter.
Thanks for writing, fun to hear from you, and good to be home!
Sharon,
Charming and interesting, as always.
They wanted to name me after my grandfathers and father. Thank goodness one of them was not called 'Creeping'. 'Good Time' would certainly have been preferable to somebody who grew up to be a gardener.
Charlie.
