I've always held to the opinion that if God meant man to eat zucchini bread he'd have had it produce loaves.
Your generous contribution of Green Striped Cushaw seeds, while not springing up and producung "overnight" are doing just fine.
Zucchini is the Italian word for squashes (or maybe little squashes). It's plural, maybe because you never have just one. In Italy, I had pizza with squash blossoms as a topping.
I have found, that if you let a squash fruit get big, the rest of the plant will really slow down production, so if you are overloaded with fruits, stop picking from some of your plants. If left on the plant, the fruits will turn orange or partly orange and will keep for a while like a pumpkin. My dad said that he decorated one like fish for the grandkids for Halloween.
It's an "American" thing! I've never seen "Zucchini Bread" anywhere in Europe (although, I suppose it will pop up tomorrow just because I said that!), and that's one of the reasons for living here. I don't know how many different versions of "zucchini bread" I have been subjected to, but I really just cannot stomach the stuff.
Zucchini cut into "Chinese-style" chunks. lightly steamed, and then sprinkled with salt & pepper (and maybe just a bit of butter or olive oil) is just perfect.
I just got back from Montreal about 2 hours ago. There, in the Jean Talon Market, there are tables filled with zucchini blossoms!
