As the article mentions - the Flame Lily is the National flower of Zimbabwe, where we lived for many years. In summer we used to enjoy 'hunting' for Flame Lilies, not to pick but just to find, as they are a protected species.

They seem to be quite adaptable in their habitat as we normally found them in grass and bush veld areas which are quite dry.

Thanks for the detailed article! Seeing a Flame lily on this hot and steamy Ontario afternoon was perfectly well timed!!
