This problem has stumped me, so I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help. I've grown tomatos pretty successfully for several years now, but this summer I'm having a strange problem. About a quarter of my tomato plants are wilting, though the soil's evenly moist. I've tried both more and less water, so I don't think its a root rot issue. The only thing I can find is that at the base of some of these plants there's a brown spot (sometimes a ring wrapping around the whole plant) as if it was injured and healed over. Its a little hard to see in the picture, but hopefully you get the idea. My only thought is that maybe something is chewing on the plants and limiting transport of water/nutrients to the leaves above... Any idea's on who the culprit might be and how to control it would be fantastic!!!
