I've heard they like to scratch around in veggie gardens. :-(
Depending on the size of your garden, you might try putting a chicken wire fence around (yes, turkeys fly, but they might not want to be bothered to deal with the fence), or maybe some chicken wire or other material on the ground that they wouldn't want to walk over would discourage them.
Some people feed them on the other side of the yard from the garden, but that may just encourage them to hang around and not actually reduce any damage they could do.
On the other hand, I'll bet 8 babies are much fun to watch run around!
