I've included a photo of a concrete planter/pot which holds a rose tree. The pot (quite heavy, of course) drains onto the little 10X10 foot patio and there's some staining going on, especially in the little "canals" which crisscross the span. I'm wanting to place some kind of little pot dish beneath the wheeled carrier which will guide the water directly off the concrete deck. Well, make that a large pot dish-or-something.

Can someone tell me what name or words to use to Google-search a supplier of some such thing? I'd surely appreciate it.

How large is the area under the pot?
We use cake pans w/ a wick under ours.
The wick pulls the drained water back up into the pot.
Any container small enough to fit under there would work.

IF you want to drain the water off then you would have to put a hose on it.
Not a hard job... but disguising it would be hard.
Either a clear tube in those 'channels' or drill thru the concrete which I doubt you want to do.

Or simply pull out the pan and dump it.

Try googling

This may work.
Not the footed thing but the flanges below it.

Try moving the pot a few inches to take advantage of the expansion joint in the concrete that is already under the pot. That should help direct some of the water until you can work out a better solution.

Thanks, folks!

Henry, it's a very narrow and shallow space. Can't get much of a pan underneath it, much less move it about. I was intrigued by the idea of a wick which would return the water to the soil. But . . . BUT . . . such a solution it seems would require re-planting or turning the pot on it's side in order to insert the wick inside. NOT!

I thought about your solution, Dann, earlier. But the expansion joints are actually what have stained the worst, although it would certainly limit the continuation of staining of the surface until another solution could be found, as you point out.

So, I went to WalMart this afternoon looking at cat litter pads, pads with ribs or dibble tips to promote litter release immediately upon leaving the litter box. I've seen them with shapes, tiny walls and such, which might have moved the water. I grabbed a couple and then wandered over to the garden section . . . what a concept! LOL!

There were pot holders which were 18" by 5-6 or so inches. So I grabbed a couple, cut a "V" at one end, slid them under the wheeled stand between the wheels (between which they just barely fit). To give you a better idea of the size, that's a 70lb poodle lying at the edge of the patio. It ends up acting something like the "channels" you buy to move the water away from your house underneath the rain spouts, which is what I'd hoped. If you can think of something a bit more appropriate, be sure to speak up.

Here's the result. Thanks for helping get my creative juices flowing, folks!
