I would like to plant a memorial tree in my yard for a family member that has passed on. This was my husband's brother so I want to plant something he would like. I was thinking of a plum or nectarine or something along those lines - but I want something pretty foolproof since I think it would make him feel worse if it didn't thrive. Any suggestions for San Diego? I've only had two experiences with fruit trees; a lemon tree that is doing pretty well and producing fruit, and a mandarin orange that didn't make it all after 3 years with lots of tlc. I want to plant it in the same general area as the lemon tree which will get full hot sun. We're also water rationing now, so something not as needy for water would be great. I'm having to save recycled water in a bucket to keep the lemon alive which is a big pain.
Thanks, Christina
