| A raw food internet show (therenegadehealthshow.com) featured a fascinating talk with the owners of Angels Organic Farm in Oregon's Rogue Valley. If you want to see it Google how to grow plants with sound and music. Essentially they say that music opens the stomata on the backs of leaves and helps them absorb nutrients. They have had dramatic results with this technique, so much so that the plant nearest a speaker can grow several times as big as the one farthest away. Natural sounds such as frog croaks, bird songs, etc. also have a big impact. |

| Funny you should mention this, I saw a programme called Mythbusters which tried this, they had greenhouses with no sound, some with classical and some with heavy metal rock music.
The greenhouses that grew better plants were the ones with heavy metal rock music. |

| I totally agree, my plants like the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, and especially Jimi Hendrix! I keep my seedlings on my porch so they can hear the music better. Their favorite is Jimi Hendrix's "May This Be Love" (the Waterfall song)!
I wonder if in the garden experiment, that the plants closest to the speaker grew the best, because they got the most care. |

| Hey guys i am glad I am not the only one who saw that episode of mythbusters, and then tried it my plants do love metal. You know heavy music. my great grandma would turn on the radio every morning and her violets went nuts. so yeah I am a believer. |

| Plants respond to positive influence. If a plant is suffering from drought and a lack of nutrition, playing music won't help it. If a plant gets what it wants, it will be healthy regardless of human folly.
I have to go, my Green Onions and Swiss Chard just put in a request for Cream "Disraeli Gears"! They've been wanting to hear a lot of Eric Clapton lately.

Journey... in the 80's was my favorite. "Open Arm's". The Moody Blue's with there song "Night's in White Satin" was older but ...
This has been fun for me...a trip down memory lane is alway's welcome.

| Dang, I had to log off and go to work, So I missed at the fun :(
Here there and everywhere is about right for the beets. If some critter doesn't make it's way into the garden and chomp them, the next year we get hit by a huge hail storm that does them in.
And yes, that is a Large egg inside one of the many holes that was left in the garden :(
Had to do that so people would realize just how big it was.
