I found it! I can't believe it. In years past Ive had little luck with tomatoes; I dont like to spray chemicals, and I was just fighting a losing battle. This year a friend of mine gave me a few plants, since he had a few extra. I figured, what the hay, Ive got room. So I did.
Now we did have a spell of a lot of rain, which had to help. And I fertilized one time, just once, with left over 16-4-8 from last year, since I threw it over the whole garden. No pesticides. The plants looks wonderful, and are growing very nice medium sized tomatoes. But the best part...they are so flavorful!! As a friend of mine said, they taste like spaghetti sauce. I dont know if thats good or bad, but she raved about them.
The plants are extremely healthy, no wilt. Of course Im still getting those god-awful tomato horn worms, but I pick them off (yuck!!!!!!) and give them to my chickens.
The variety is Bella Rosa. I highly recommend it to FL growers. Im just thrilled with it, so much so Ill grow some this fall, also. I might even can some, since they are so prolific, and have such a wonderful flavor.
Now maybe they are so wonderful to me because Im used to supermarket maters, but I think these are great for the home garden.
