Another name for this one is Gill-Over-The-Ground. Anyway, thats what my family has called it, ever since we identified it in a nature guide. I remember reading that this herb was used as a hop substitute because of its bitter nature. I can't imagine what that beer would taste like . . .
It is a rampant weed in our garden -- it makes the peppermint and spearmint look tame in comparison. I also find the smell unpleasant, even though I like most mint family members. I'm not sure how it arrived in our garden, but it has since spread to the parts of the lawn around the garden. I've noticed as well that it seems to be enjoying all the rain we've been getting as of late.
