This has happened with a couple of varieties now.

Here's what 'Delta Pure Rose' pansy is supposed to look like (and all of my plants did look like this when I bought them):

A couple of years ago I had a similar experience with Viola 'Sorbet Coconut Duet'. Is it normal for pansies and violas to change like this? Is there any way to prevent it? Thanks!

As they get older they revert back...and cross with others. Eventually, they'll all be johnny-jump-ups again.

Rosemary: Are you talking about the ORIGINAL plants that changed color like that over time, or RE-SEEDS of those that came up?

I've grown pansies and violas for eons and the blooms start doing that color changing when they're at the end of their season and on their last legs as the summer heat approaches.

These are the original plants that are changing colour, not re-seeds. That's what's so weird.
