I posted in the Home Improvement Forum before seeing this one.
We would like to do something with the floor in our kitchen. The floor is vinyl tile over concrete slab. We are thinking of the peel and stick vinyl tiles. Has anyone used these tiles and do they really stay stuck down in the long run?
Unfortunately someone did try to use them in our restaurant restroom floors. What a mess.
BUT, that being said: if the floor surface you plan to cover is REALLY CLEAN, they should work just fine.
Since you are doing a kitchen, I would use Greased Lightning first, to get all the grease, smoke, and other coating up, then lightly sand with 220 - 330 on a pole to get anything the cleaner missed, then rinse and let dry.
I would be in socks or "booties" - not shoes, have a supply of microfiber cloths available to remove any last-minute dust/debris as each tile is set. Probably would help to use a J-Roller to be sure all tiles are firmly attached.
