Just in from the garden and found my 4th watermelon eaten in last week with a small hole about 1 1/2 inches in diameter circular (see picture) and the insides taken of course. Very upsetting. Been growing watermelons for years and never seen anything like this. Does anyone know what could be doing this...must have good teeth to gnaw through the rind ..squirrel? Any suggestions on protecting them? May put some in plastic bag overnight but that will be a pain. Very Puzzling..
Thanks for any ideas and feedback as to what is causing this...
