Many people consider a weed to be anything that's planted itself somewhere that you don't want it, so if this one sprouted up from birdseed or something in an area that you don't really want it growing, then technically you could probably call it a weed and win your bet :-)

I like the way you think ecrane ;=), but unfortunately she tells me she planted it,and several others like it in her garden, so it looks like I've lost this one fair and square!

I have plenty of Sunflower [weeds] that the squirrels planted in my flower beds. I'm not too pleased about the ones that are now in front of my Yvonne's Salvia... but i just can't pull out a perfectly good plant - especially since it will help feed the critters in the Fall.
