We adopted some flowers and plants from a friend of ours that moved recently... and one of the Lilies has come out with a bloom that we've never seen before!
We have other Lilies that have been blooming and appear very normal... but this one plant has put out flowers that appear to have "double petals" - or 2 to 3 petals where there would normally be one each on all of our other lillies!
The first one bloomed yesterday. I took the pictures of it you see here first thing in the morning... then I clipped it off the plant and put it in the freezer to preserve it. (I couldn't think of a better way at the time and didn't want to see it close up or rot!)
Now today the same plant has opened a second blossom that has double and triple petals where normal blossoms I've seen would have only one! (I'm going to take pictures of the second blossom after sending this post).
Is this normal? We've never seen or heard of anything like it? Since this plant has now put out two blossoms like this... is this some kind of a special or hybridized plant? Is this plant odd enough we should consider re-potting it so we can bring it in for winter?
IF you have info, advice or a similar experience with a "double petal" Lily like this you're willing to share... or if we've somehow overlooked a known variety - Please respond to let us know?
Thank You! Talk Soon!

Thank You! It sure made it alot easier to find more info on them once you gave us the right name for them!
I did notice there weren't any photos posted with this color combination... perhaps we should submit the photos for the plant files section here?
Thanks Again!

Wendy & Will,
Thank You Again for the information Cyclops & JasperDale... and Thank You for the extra photos here UnrulyGarden & RoseGirl! These Double DayLillies have quickly made it onto our "favorite flowers" list!
We just made a second small patch in the yard along one side of the shed for more of these... where they can "Invade" all they like! (along with some freshly split Purple Bearded Iris's!)
Perhaps I'll start a few large flower patches with some of these down on my Uncle's farm... as a means of multiplying the plants for future use!
Thanks Again & Talk Soon!
Blessings & 73!
Wendy & Will,
