This tree lives in my backyard and was planted a few years ago. In January 2007(ish) a cold snap is thought to have damaged the tree as it did not grow many leaves in the spring/summer 2008. Previous owners cut 3 ft off the top and it is now happy and healthy (albeit short), but I don't know what kind of tree it is and I'm looking to move it.

Thanks for the lead Resin :)

This tree didn't flower the way other pics of weeping cherry seem to show. Do all cherries flower?

I agree with the identification of Weeping Cherry. I think there are a few that grow in your zone.

My weeping cherry blooms around May 1-8, but this year it bloomed before May 1st probably because of the strange weather we've had. It seemed that when we blinked the flowers were gone. When it blooms, it is extremely pretty. Toronto is about 5 degrees cooler than here (although I don't know how much rain you've had this year. Perhaps if you leave it alone, it will produce for you next year.

By the way, Toronto is one of my favorite places.

Your Weeping Cherry will bloom. Give it a little more time;-)
